At present, most people climbing Mount Fuji choose to take the trails on the Yamanashi Prefecture side, particularly the Kawaguchiko-guchi Trail. Because Kanagawa Prefecture is close to Yamanashi Prefecture, the major trails of the Yamanashi Prefecture side are relatively easy to reach from Kanagawa. The following are directions from Yokohama to the Kawaguchiko-guchi Trail.

Option 1: Take the JR Yokohama Line to Hachioji Station. Transfer to the JR Chuo Main Line (or take the JR Shonan-Shinjuku or other Shinjuku-bound lines to Shinjuku Station and change to the JR Chuo Main Line there). Go to Otsuki Station and then transfer to the Fujikyuko Railway. Get off at the last stop, which is Kawaguchiko Station. Take the Fujikyu Bus from Kawaguchiko Station to the fifth station of Mount Fuji, the last stop on the bus line.
Option 2: Take the JR Shonan-Shinjuku or other Shinjuku-bound lines to Shinjuku Station. Then take the Keio Bus or the Fujikyuko Bus direct service from Shinjuku Station to the fifth station of Mount Fuji.

To get to Mount Fuji from other cities such as Kawasaki, Kamakura, Hakone, etc., it is recommended that you first go to Shinjuku and then follow the above.
