Newly Opened Facilities“Kawasaki Art Center”


The Kawasaki Art Center opened Wednesday, October 31st at Shin-Yurigaoka Station on the Odakyu Line as part of “Shin-Yuri – A Town of Art.” A multi-use space, it contains the performance space “Arterio Theatre” and movie space “Arterio Cinema” as well as an art café and educational facilities.

Hakone Daimyou Gyouretsu : November 3 (Holiday)

Location: Yumoto Onsen Machi

This event includes a spectacular daimyou gyouretsu procession and parades of approximately 200 Yumoto geiko (geisha) and te-odori dance. Keyari lance performances held midway are also not to be missed.
Departs from Souun-ji Temple (Yumoto Elementary School, 10:00) and ends at the Yumoto Fujiya Hotel around 14:20.

Houmotsu Kaza Ire : November 3 (Holiday) to November 5 (Mon)

Location: Enkaku-ji Temple and Kenchou-ji Temple, Kamakura-City

“Houmotsu Kaza Ire” is a yearly ritual where the treasures possessed by Enkaku-ji Temple and Kenchou-ji Temple are aired in the wind. Precious items usually not available to see are brought out for public view during these days only (a special fee is required). The National Treasure “Shari-den” at Enkaku-ji Temple and the ceiling painting “Unryu-zu” at Kenchou-ji Temple are available to view.

Ootori-jinja Shrine Tori no Ichi Festival
: November 11 (Sun) and November 23 (Holiday)

Location: Ootori-jinja Shrine, Yokohama-City

The Tori no Ichi festival celebrates the arrival of winter and is held at Ootori-jinja Shrine, which was established the year the port was opened and is affectionately called “Otori-sama.” Shops selling colorfully displayed ceremonial rakes and daruma dolls as well as various booths fill the precincts, which are crowded until late at night with people wishing for business success and good fortune. The festival lasts from 12:00 to 24:00.

Zushi Coast Yabusame (Horseback Archery)/Zushi Yabusame Warrior Procession : November 18 (Sun)

Location: Central Zushi Coast and other locations, Zushi-City

After the starting ceremony, processions of people wearing warrior costumes, yabusame, and children will be held. At the Zushi Coast, gallant Takeda-style yabusume will take place from 13:10 to around 14:50.

Splendid Food Festival/Yokosuka Curry Festival : November 18 (Sun)

Location: Verny Park Ikoi no Hiroba, Yokosuka-City

Stands selling Yokosuka Navy Curry and local specialty products as well as stage shows, musical performances by the Maritime Self Defense Forces Band, a curry buffet, etc., will be available.
