The Tokaido Line formally began operations in October of 1872. Today, the main stretch of the Tokaido Line runs between Tokyo Station and Kobe Station in Hyogo Prefecture. There are 80.9km of track and seventeen stations within Kanagawa Prefecture, running in order from Kawasaki Station through Fujisawa, Odawara, and eventually on to Yugawara Station.
