All lines of the Odakyu-Odawara Line opened in 1927, linking Odawara with Shinjuku. Two years later, the Odakyu-Enoshima Line opened, linking Shinjuku with Enoshima.
The Odakyu-Odawara Line is the gateway from the Greater Tokyo metropolitan area to the tourist sites of Kanagawa Prefecture. In addition to conventional train lines, the Odakyu-Odawara Line also operates express cars such as the Odakyu Romance Car, which is available by reservation only and requires an additional fare. “Free passes” are also on sale, such as the Hakone Free Pass, which allows travel to Hakone, and the Enoshima-Kamakura Free Pass, which allows travel in the direction of Enoshima. These free passes include special discounts offered by the Odakyu-Odawara Line.
