The Daiyuzan Line opened in October of 1925 as the Daiyuzan Railroad, with the purpose of transporting worshippers from Odawara Station to the Daiyuzan Saijoji Temple, one of the three famous temples in the Soto Sect of Buddhism. The stations in use at that time were Daiyuzan and Kari-Odawara, near the second pedestrian railroad crossing in what is now the town of Midori. Today, the Daiyuzan Line connects Odawara Station and Daiyuzan Station, spanning twelve stations and 9.6 km.
